Yvonne Rumbolt-Jones has been a tireless advocate for Labrador, representing her community both in the Canadian Parliament and on the international stage. Her work has extended beyond local politics to global discussions about the Arctic and northern development.
Federal Leadership
Elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Labrador in 2013, Jones served in Ottawa for more than a decade, bringing the voices of northern communities to the federal government. She worked as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Northern Affairs and also to the Minister of National Defence (Northern Defence), engaging in issues that impact the North and Indigenous peoples.
Representing Canada Abroad
In October 2024, Jones took part in the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavík, Iceland, where leaders from across the world met to discuss climate change, Indigenous rights, sustainable development, and economic priorities in the Arctic. Her participation helped highlight the unique challenges facing Canada’s northern and Indigenous communities.
